FEMA to pay CHURCHES????

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Federal Emergency Management Agency will reimburse churches and other religious organizations that have provided shelter, food and supplies to the victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the Washington Post reported on Tuesday.

The payments with taxpayer money would mark the first time that the government has made such payments to faith-based groups at a time following natural disasters, the newspaper reported, citing FEMA officials.

FEMA is a division within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security

WHAT WHAT WHAT??? I just don't understand this. Taxpayer money to reimburse church donations.
1. I thought that churches would just give to the victims out of the kindness of their hearts...not to get a check.
2. I guess this is the whole FAITH BASED ORGANIZATIONS things.
Wonder if any FAITH BASED ORGANIZATIONS will get a check or is it just Christian churches. Who knows ...this whole thing is stupid.
If you belong to a church, you give cause GOD TELLS YOU TO HELP!!! Any funds they get from FEMA, they should give Right back to the victims...build them a new church in Slidell, LA. or something.
Why should the tax dollars that belong to EVERYONE go to faith based organizations? Seperation of the church and state...yeah...that was a good idea...

Man Whore Supports the troops..

I love Jeff Gannon, that crazy bastard...

DELAY INDICTED!!!!!!

Its about freakin' time.

Im sure I'll pay for this post...

by the likes of military wanna be's ...but I am ashamed of the military. There I said it. ASHAMED!!! And not ALL the military, like those KIDS over there fighting this crazy war...i hope for their return everyday. But the military that convicted Lyndie England. Ok, she isn't the best of the brightest...but she IS our military and she WAS following orders. My question is this...will this undermind the ability of the officers who aren't pond scum to give a subordinate an order and the sub follow it? What are the privates and lower levels of the military supposed to do? Make moral and legal judgements over military orders? What that girl did was wrong, but she was following orders. If you say she wasn't following orders then you conceed that our military is falling apart when you have privates not following commands of their officers. But it had to go up the chain of command cause more than just England was doing those filthy things. So who is to blame? Her commanding officers are. The military teaches these lemmings to "follow orders". Then they put her on trial and convict her of doing so to save their collective asses...like this was a one time thing. I think we will see more and more enlisted men and women refusing to follow orders of commands that are "questionable" in order to avoid prosecution. But hopefully, we will see a major reduction in the commands that are illegal to begin with and maybe restore some dignity to the uniform....

its gonna be a good day...

or at least i thought until about 5 minutes ago when i had to run outside, (still in my pj's) to get something out of my car when the sprinklers came on!!!! Hopefully the last "surprise" of the day!!!!
OH!!! Cindy Sheehan got arrested yesterday...I do feel sorry for her, but when the police tell you move along, best to do it, girl. No need in giving the Rush Limbaughs of this world more fodder for their shows.** Wonder if while she was in Jail she saw David Safavian..chief procurement officer for the Bush administration....he is in the slammer too!!!!

Senator Coburn..."screw the ethics committee"

Senator Tom Coburn of Judiciary Committee fame (remember the crossword puzzle guy...that is him!) has decided that Senate Ethics don't apply to him. The Senate Ethics Committee told Coburn to stop practicing medicine as of September 30, or he will be censured. Well, Coburn stated he didn't care what they said, he would practice anyway. Wow. A Senator with a blatant disrespect for the law. We'll see how this one pans out. I will keep you advised.
Here is an idea....maybe the Senator could step down and Oklahoma could hold a special election. That would be a great idea. I don't want my republican senator from Oklahoma to have to choose between his true calling (being a lying hypocrite in the Senate) and his medical practice (which while practicing medicine he sterilized a woman and performed two abortions). Damn. I don't want him doing either!!!!! Maybe he can go back to accounting which is what he was before he was either a doctor or Senator. Wow, either this guy has ADD or just can't follow a career path. Or maybe he is just a huge failure...who knows....

Bush Family "values"

I don't condone making fun of someone's family...but when conservatives call liberals "morally bankrupt" all while calling George Bush an "honorable and moral man"...well, lets just take a look at the loony toons in the Bush family....

WAR!!! What is it good for ? Absolutely Nothin'!!

Watch It....

A defamatory blog posting would be considered libel (i.e., written defamation) rather than slander (spoken defamation). If a statement is, in fact, defamatory, the writer/poster potentially would be liable, but the blogger himself/herself would not (pursuant to the safe harbor provision of The Communications Decency Act, Section 230) -- unless, of course, the blogger is the one who made the defamatory statement.

Although pure opinion is generally not defamatory (because it is not capable of being proved as true or false), one cannot escape liability simply by labeling an otherwise factual statement as "my opinion," particularly if the opinion appears implicitly to be based on undisclosed facts known to the speaker/writer.

In other words, the statement, "I've read his stories for 10 years, and in my opinion he's a thief and a liar," will be found defamatory (assuming it's false) even though couched in terms of opinion.

The various defenses to liability for an otherwise defamatory statement -- and the higher standard of proof required of a public figure -- are too complicated to include here.

There's Something About Mary.....

If you saw that movie you then you remember Warren.
Maybe that is what the W stands for.....

Don't Screw with Turdblossom

The lawyer who spoke to The Post about voter eligibility in TX is now unemployed, thanks to a call by Rove himself.
When will Turdblossom stop using the phone to ruin people's lives? He makes calls to Novak and Valerie Plame gets outted as a CIA operative cause he is pissed at her huband for going against the administration. Now, Turdblossom gets pissed cause he gets some heat for voting fraud, so he makes a call to a major campaign contributor at the State Dept. in Texas, now a lawyer who works for Texas is out for not mentioning names, but stating facts about voter eligibility.
This bastard is sick.

Potty Break...

Okay...I am going to give the Prez a break on this one. So he scrawled a note to Condi. She has been at the UN more than he has and maybe he didn't know the classy thing to do. I think I would have done the same thing. He didn't want to be disrespectful. He wasn't asking for permission, he was just wanting maybe someone to affirm it was okay to get up and leave really quick.
(don't expect me to be on his side again though!!!)

Republicans are People Too...

Mean, greedy, selfish people.
Here are just a few flawed policies of the Bush administration that lead either directly or indirectly to the demise to the victims in the wake of Katrina:
1. Reversing enviromental standards set by the Clinton administration causing more and more green house gasses and global warming to be increasing at an uncontrollable rate.
2. Funding cuts for Army Corp of Engineers
3. Funding cuts for first responders
4. Skyrocketing Gas prices
5. Communication breakdowns and no set standards for chain of command
6. Not following the 9/11 commission recommendationa
7. Stretching our military too thin in Iraq
8. Stretching our military supplies too thin by sending stockpiles to Iraq meant for stateside disaster surpluses.

No, George didn't cause the hurricane, no one says that. Only republican fucktards like Ann Coulter would say that democrats say that. It is the big picture. I thought he was a big picture man, or is that just the books he reads.
Lets go back to the morning of 9/11/01, after being told the "country is under attack" he remained seated for 7 minutes. Did nothing for 7 minutes. He didn't know what to do. In the wake of Katrina, he didn't know what to do. He is so underqualified for the job of President it is unreal. This is not ON THE JOB TRAINING Mr. President. Guess he didn't get that memo either.

Brownie, your doin' a heck of a job...

I was actually proud of Bush yesterday by coming out and accepting some responsibility for the mess in the aftermath of the levee break in New Orleans, La. I also heard of talking heads on Fox news saying FEMA head honcho Brown "Lost his job over this". No he didn't. He was re-directed to D.C. Then he resigned. He should have been FIRED by the administration. He shouldn't have been appointed in the first place seeing he had no qualifications. This is how I think his departure from the federal goverment went:
Rove: Brownie, you are embarassing the administration. Bush doesn't like to fire people especially major campaign contributors. So, you are going to resign, taking full responsibility for your incompetence.
Brown: Uh, ok.
Rove: Have it on the president's desk tomorrow. I am co-ordinating a speech where the President takes responsiblity. It will be freakin' brilliant.
Brown: Uh, ok.
Rove: See, you resign and the President looks like he is in control of the situation.
Brown: Uh, ok.
Rove: Just like the time he went to N.O.L.A. and then all the military showed up with water and MREs...freakin' brilliant! That was all me baby, I am a genius.
Brown: Uh, ok.
Rove: Ok, well, see you later Brownie. Oh, here comes Cheney.
Cheney: Go fuck yourselves.
Rove: (evil halloween laugh..) That guy cracks me up. Hey Brownie on your way out send in Gannon, its time for my "massage".

A 7 letter word for the junior senator from Oklahoma.....

DUMBASS...
It really doesn't get much better than this folks. Tom Coburn, R-Ok the junior senator on the judiciary committee was caught on camera doing a crossword puzzle during the Robert's confirmation hearings. Can you believe it? After his waterworks and his plead for unity and how important all this is, he is doing a crossword puzzle. But I am not surprised, Tom doesn't concern himself with the important things and obviously like to play games. I am not a Robert's fan, but he is the best we are gonna get. At the most, he deserved the attention of the Senators. This is the most important job interview the guy has been on and the Senator from OK is trying to figure out a crossword! Oh, well, I honestly don't expect more from this idiot.

Someone get Tom a Tissue....

I nearly broke down when I read this..the sincerity, the emotion, the utter bullshit......

The most emotional speech of the day came from Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.), a physician and freshman senator, whose voice cracked as he pleaded for unity.
"My heart aches for less divisiveness," he said, "less polarization, less finger-pointing, less bitterness, less mindless partisanship. . . ."

Gimme a freakin' break....

My Jeff Gannon fix for the day...

He absolutely cracks me up. I can't get over it...Here is a little somthn' somthn' from his blog:

Funding sources for gas price relief, Katrina recovery
PBS budget: $333 million (per year)
National Endowment for the Arts: $121 million (per year)
I think Americans can do with a little less of "Riverdance", "Cirque de Soliel" and the "Manure Madonna" when so many people are suffering.

And here is my absolute favorite response EVER....
Posted by: TJ at September 2, 2005 12:08 AM
You absolutely useless piece of shit. Please keep your mouth and hands occupied with your former profession and keep your hateful, childish and poorly thought out comments to yourself.
It's telling that you can't even defend the vacation administration but rather have to go after PBS. Tell me, you faux-human being - how exactly will trashing PBS and the NEA decrease oil prices. Are you honestly suggesting that the govt will distribute $454 million dollars of gasoline relief to Americans? How many poppers have you done today?
I would convert to Christianity simply for the pleasure of seeing you burning in Hell.
One last question - how much drugs and alcohol do you consume each day in order to live with yourself

Whoever you are TJ...kudos
I think Cirque is surviving just well without the NEA Jeff... and Riverdance does pretty damn good too. Condi loves broadway Jeff...remember she was there when people were drowing in the f-ing attics....
And PBS ?? now where are all the illegals working for Wal-Mart gonna learn anything????

"Vacation's all I ever wanted...vacation have to get away..."

When will Bush and Company stop it with the Lies and the spin???
The new republican talking points are blame the Mayor of New Orleans and the Governor of Louisiana. Funny when the American people want answers, they ask for "Accountability" or "Responsibility". The Republicans spin it into "Blame" and "finger pointing". Scott McClellan is fabulous at it, only at this press conference Jeff Gannon wasn't throwing softballs at him...He was getting some tough questions he wasn't about prepared to deal with.
Who is today's sacrificial lamb? The Democratic Governor of La. and the Democratic Mayor of N.O.L.A. How people can say the FEMA response, rather lack thereof, isn't political? Actually, if you think about it everyone was on Vacation...Cheney in the west, some high cabinet officials in Greece...Bush in Crawford in his cage they keep in him so he won't do anything stupid...damn. Who let the monkey get the keys??????

FEMA F UP

Okay, I did a little investigating. Here is an excerpt from a speech by FEMA director Michael Brown outlining FEMA's successes...
Just a few quotes, you can read the full speech at : http://www.fema.gov/library/speech_brown04082004

2004 National Hurricane Conference, Orlando Florida, April 7,

Last year, those of us living in the Mid-Atlantic experienced the impact of Hurricane Isabel. This was a fierce reminder of the importance of hurricane preparedness and mitigation and the many services provided by the federal, state and local emergency management community.

The importance of both timely and accurate hurricane forecast information provided by the Tropical Prediction Center in Miami was again demonstrated. A special thanks to Max and the dedicated staff at the Center for all your continued hard work and exceptional forecasting.

During Isabel, we also conducted action planning/reporting with each state in an attempt to better synchronize our increased readiness efforts.

We opened multiple Staging Areas and Mobilization Centers in anticipation of needs, including pre-positioning of NDMS teams, USAR teams, MERS assets, EPA hazmat teams, and USACE teams.

We deployed ERTs to every state EOC which was expected to be significantly impacted by the storm.

We had DHS ICE and US Coast Guard aircraft identified and pre-positioned to provide aviation support.

Our DHS’ colleagues at IAIP co-located with us to provide better access to critical infrastructure operators.

We crafted an expedited declaration policy for this storm which was communicated to the states in advance of landfall to ensure they understood how to obtain access to federal resources and to assist with cost recovery for their readiness actions.

We pre-positioned newly developed "shelter packs", containing equipment/supplies needed to support shelter operations -which weren't requested - previously our equipment/supplies for this mission were not packaged for mission-specific tasks.

And, last year while making preparations for Hurricane Isabel, we pre-deployed Urban Search and Rescue teams to strategic locations so they would be able to immediately mobilize in case rescue efforts were needed just after the hurricane made landfall. It’s also worth noting that since last fall all 28 of our US&R teams have completed training to become WMD ready.

and isn't it ironic ....dont you think?

I find it so funny when people to respond to a blog just to insult you blogging. They tell you to get off your butt and stop being on your computer all the time...Wonder how they got to the blog? by osmosis???? They were on their computer, complaining to people about being on their computer.
But I welcome the critics...I like people who have opinions.

OH Turd Blossom....

(if you are "unawares" "turd blossom" is Bush's pet name for Karl Rove)
The Post reported today that Rove does not qualify for the homestead exemption taxes on his home in D.C. (valued at 1.1mil). See, Turd Blossom votes in Texas. And according to D.C. law, you only get homestead exemption if you VOTE where you are claiming the exemption. This is where Turd Blossom really gets clammy....The law has been in place since 2001 and he is claiming ignorance. See, Turd Blossom also claimed homestead on a little shack outside Austin on the river. See, Turd Blossom VOTES in Tx. He claims TEXAS is his home..a little over 800 square foot shack worth less than 25,000, that he does not inhabit. But Turd Blossom should have known you can't file homestead on two houses at the same time....come on...you think Turd Blossom does his own taxes??? puuuullllleeeeaasssseee...
So, he is my query......Does Turd Blossom live in D.C.? or Does Turd Blossom live in TX??? (million dollar home vs. shack in the boonies) I am guessing since he made his investment in D.C., that is where he lives and where he should have voted....But the courts will decide...

John Roberts...chief justice? Oh Holy crap....

I guess Bush "hired from outside". Well, at least Pat Robertson got his prayer answered. You remember his prayer to the Almighty for "more openings on the Supreme Court". Thing is, to get more openings on the Court, someone usually has to die, or become so ill they retire. That Pat, trying to pack heaven...litterally.
Well, all I can say is the only way Republicans will support Abortion rights is by paying for the abortion!! While we are on the subject of whether embroys are babies, etc. Why don't all you conservative, pro-lifers, go to your nearest fertility clinic (who destroy just as many embroys as abortion doctors by the way) and offer up your fertile uterus. That is right. Lets have a pro-life movement, where all you right-winged nut jobs out there go and get fertilized....Why not, they are life and deserve a chance to life.....oh, i forget fertility clinics make lots of $$ and mostly better off patients are their clients. It isn't like Medicaid pays for it.
I don't agree that Abortion is the Right thing to do, but sometimes it is a choice. A decision that is the hardest to make. But it is the woman's right to make that decision. And regardless of what the goverment says, they will happen....aka Back Alley Abortions. Keep them legal to keep them safe.

a must read from Ben Stein with rebutts by yours truly....

By Ben Stein
Published 9/2/2005 11:59:59 PM
http://www.americanprowler.com/util/...sp?art_id=8693
A few truths, for those who have ears and eyes and care to know the truth:
(**My comments in bold..)

1.) The hurricane that hit New Orleans and Mississippi and Alabama was an astonishing tragedy. The suffering and loss of life and peace of mind of the residents of those areas is acutely horrifying.
**I agree.....

2.) George Bush did not cause the hurricane. Hurricanes have been happening for eons. George Bush did not create them or unleash this one.
**No body has yet to say George Caused the Hurricane...Although I hear Karl Rove had something to do with it....but he didn't NAME the hurricane, therefore, committed no crime...

3.) George Bush did not make this one worse than others. There have been far worse hurricanes than this before George Bush was born.

**True. Speaking of the alien birth, someone needs to remind him he was NOT BORN IN TEXAS..this demon spawn was birthed in Connecticut..Texas was just more accepting of his drug and alcohol addiction.

4.) There is no overwhelming evidence that global warming exists as a man-made phenomenon. There is no clear-cut evidence that global warming even exists. There is no clear evidence that if it does exist it makes hurricanes more powerful or makes them aim at cities with large numbers of poor people. If global warming is a real phenomenon, which it may well be, it started long before George Bush was inaugurated, and would not have been affected at all by the Kyoto treaty, considering that Kyoto does not cover the world's worst polluters -- China, India, and Brazil. In a word, George Bush had zero to do with causing this hurricane. To speculate otherwise is belief in sorcery.
**George said during the campaign it "needed more study"....so how much study has been done to date...um none. A month ago he said global warming "needed more study". I know he isn't a big reader, so maybe someone could make a pop-up book for him.

5.) George Bush had nothing to do with the hurricane contingency plans for New Orleans. Those are drawn up by New Orleans and Louisiana. In any event, the plans were perfectly good: mandatory evacuation. It is in no way at all George Bush's fault that about 20 percent of New Orleans neglected to follow the plan. It is not his fault that many persons in New Orleans were too confused to realize how dangerous the hurricane would be. They were certainly warned. It's not George Bush's fault that there were sick people and old people and people without cars in New Orleans. His job description does not include making sure every adult in America has a car, is in good health, has good sense, and is mobile.
**Most Evacuees said they couldn't afford the gas to get out town. Plus, the hurricane wasn't their problem...try LEVEE. Maybe this is would be easier for the posterchild for NCLB......3 years in a row Bush cuts cash for Army Corp and FEMA....Bush Ignores Levee legislation and all calls by senators for help...Rain Came down from Sky (and no, it isn't Jesus crying...)...Lots of wind came too....people leave town....people survived the hurricane....people come back to city...Levee go "boom" and break...in come water ...lots of water...people couldn't leave...1 day, 2 day, 3 day 4 national guard shows up with W to hand out food water way too late....America pissed.

6.) George Bush did not cause gangsters to shoot at rescue helicopters taking people from rooftops, did not make gang bangers rape young girls in the Superdome, did not make looters steal hundreds of weapons, in short make New Orleans into a living hell.
**No, but the AK47s they were shooting were supposed to be done away with remember the assault rifle ban that was overturned????...but the NRA (aka penile implant up bush's ass)....said they were for hunting. Plus, most people said they were just trying to get their attention.

7.) George Bush is the least racist President in mind and soul there has ever been and this is shown in his appointments over and over. To say otherwise is scandalously untrue.
**This one was so good I sent it to the NAACP....Bush has yet to meet with them...unpresidented? I think so!!!! He loves the Hispanic...though...Chimichangas!!!!!

8.) George Bush is rushing every bit of help he can to New Orleans and Mississippi and Alabama as soon as he can. He is not a magician. It takes time to organize huge convoys of food and now they are starting to arrive. That they get in at all considering the lawlessness of the city is a miracle of bravery and organization.
**Emergency by definition is something that is UnFORSEEN. They knew the hurricane was coming. FEMA wasn't mobilized. The Military units in the area weren't mobilized. F is for Federal, E is for Emergency, M is for Management, A is for aaaaashit!!! we screwed up again!!! They waited too long to help...that is it. Even Bill O'reilly agrees. A military presence wasn't felt in the affected areas until Bush rode in on his big white horse and rolled up his Brooks Brother's sleeves and made it look like he brought the calvary with him...I am just surprised he didn't decend from a helicoptor (remember the "mission accomplished", aircraft carrier, joke) and proclaim Victory over Katrina...Now the rebuilding can commence and soon Louisiana will have a constitutional democracy...he hates the French(law).

9.) There is not the slightest evidence at all that the war in Iraq has diminished the response of the government to the emergency. To say otherwise is pure slander.
** What what what????

10.) If the energy the news media puts into blaming Bush for an Act of God worsened by stupendous incompetence by the New Orleans city authorities and the malevolence of the criminals of the city were directed to helping the morale of the nation, we would all be a lot better off.
** Oh, no you didn't!!!! Stupendous incompetence???Warning Bush ahead of time while he was in Crawford is Stupendous Incompetence...the gov. wrote him a lenghly letter begging for help, supplies, etc. on August 29!!! Another memo he ignored... If not for the mayor of New Orleans and its city authorities and its generous people...there would be alot more dead...oh, and the CRIMINALS were let out of jail cause they couldn't contain them..all while begging for the national guard.

11.) New Orleans is a great city with many great people. It will recover and be greater than ever. Sticking pins into an effigy of George Bush that does not resemble him in the slightest will not speed the process by one day.
**oh, but it is so much fun...I am sure it will again prosper...in fact, I hear that Jeff Gannon is preparing to prostitute himself out there to help rebuild the economy. There are a lot of (wonderful) gay men in New Orleans, I am sure he will DO JUST GREAT....if Karl can bear to let him go..(pout)

12.) The entire episode is a dramatic lesson in the breathtaking callousness of government officials at the ground level. Imagine if Hillary Clinton had gotten her way and they were in charge of your health care.
**DAMN!!! It is a dramatic lesson of how UNPREPARED we are for dissaster, man made or mother nature....Maybe if George Bush wouldn't have cut funding, then engineers would be able to reinforce the levee system....This is an across the board failure of the Bush administration..hands down...

God bless all of those dear people who are suffering so much, and God bless those helping them, starting with George Bush.
I agree with all your words here, except for the last two... and I wil replace them with "the American People"
