I have been gone for a while...!! You know, being part of Ted Haggard's "Spiritual Restoration" team has kept me VERY busy...

Tuesday was a referendum on the bullshit. Not on Bush, not on the war, not on evangelicals. It was a referendum on the American people's tolerance for bullshit.
But, the Bullshit Chart, which looks an awful lot like Homeland Security's Gay Rainbow chart, was at an all time high at "Give me a fucking break" Red on Wednesday when Bush announced the post-election surprise of firing Rumsfeld. That was the closest thing to an Exit Strategy we have had since March 2003.
Puh....lease....
Had the Repukes won, Rummy would still be sleeping under his desk at the Pentagon, George Costanza style. Don't for one minute think the President got an ephiphany and decided to do the right thing. He got scared.
With the Democrats in power in the House and Senate, Bush and Rummy would have some 'splainin' to do.
Next week, I expect the announcement that Cheney is leaving office for medical reasons or the ever-so popular "spending time with his family" excuse.
Oversight is a bitch, and this administration has been without Oversight for too long.

First off, I don't give a rat's tail that Sara left the Dancing with the Stars.
She sucked.
Obviously, from last night's interview she KNEW previous to last week's results show that she was going to be filing for divorce and leaving. The "results show" which airs on Wednesday nights, is TAPED on the Tuesday night after the live performance. So, for Sara to say she knew before the results show, means she knew Tuesday night before she even competed.
Last week results show kicked off Willa and Maxim, (actually one of my favorites). Sara looked kind of shocked. Sara was the worst of the dancers. Willa actually did very well that night. I suspect that Sara thought she would get kicked off, then file for the divorce, and it wouldn't cause near the stir it did.
So, who cares right? She should have 1. been kicked off last week, and 2. should have left last week. But instead Willa had to leave....so Sara basically cheated Willa and Maxim out of one more attempt.
But let's politicize it....shall we??

In the Instant Messages sent from Foley to an underage Congressional Page, Foley asks the CHILD to "measure it" referring to the Page's penis, and "where do you throw the towel", after the kid said he ejaculates into a towel, and obviously has a plaster cast fetish. I mean, who doesn't...?

Foley has been heroed by the Left at times for his pro-gay agenda and for standing up for gay rights. He is endorced by the Log Cabin Republicans, who I hear throw FABULOUS parties.
Although he has had some liberal moments when voting for abortion laws and gay issues like adoption and same sex marriage, he is VERY republican and votes with conservatives most of the time.
The House Majority leaders KNEW there was a problem with Foley. But with all the Abramoffin' going on in Congress, the leaders decided to let this little fish go and try to save what little dignity they had. Remember when DeLay quit and Dreier was up for the job? (no pun intended) The GOP couldn't handle a closeted, gay man being Majority leader. Party planner, YES, Majority leader, NO.
Could you imagine a House with Dreier and Foley as leaders?? They would be playing Village People over the PA system, putting up pictures of Liza and Barbara all over the place and having their Pages walk around looking like Cabana boys. Throw in a Gannon or two and we have a full on Rainbow Coalition, if you catch my drift.

No, war is a deathly endeavor. A nation had better believe in it fiercely to make it worth the investment of lives, including innocents.And a nation that so invests had better be prepared to give the stockholders some truth about gains and losses.

For more than a month after he was killed in Afghanistan in 2004, Tillman's family and countrymen were fed a lie about his death, which came from friendly fire. Five inquiries have yet to clear up events.Ironically, Tillman was in on another much-trumpeted story that wasn't the truth. In a tour of duty in Iraq, he was with the squad that recovered America's most famous POW in Iraq, Pfc. Jessica Lynch. Americans were told she was rescued in a blaze of gunfire. Actually, Lynch's captors had fled when the U.S. troops arrived.Gary Smith, in a penetrating portrait of Tillman in the Sept. 11 Sports Illustrated, writes of ''how wars and soldiers get marketed by government and media alike, and how you can find yourself cast in the commercial whether you auditioned for it or not.''In an eerie passage, Tillman, who enlisted to go get the bad guys behind 9/11, watches battles rage in the Iraqi desert and calls the U.S. invasion ''f--- illegal.''
Go market that.A friend who is a disabled Vietnam veteran and who has grimaced throughout the Iraqi mission thinks of what awaits the many individuals who come home with terrible wounds and mental disabilities. With as many as one in three Iraqi veterans reportedly suffering mental illness, including post-traumatic stress disorder, he notes a recent initiative by the Department of Veterans Affairs to tighten up the definition of PTSD. Our Armed Forces are committed to complying with them and to holding accountable those in our military who do not.
The American people were horrified by the abuse of detainees at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq. These acts were wrong. They were inconsistent with our policies and our values as a Nation. I have directed a full accounting for the abuse of the Abu Ghraib detainees, and investigations are underway to review detention operations in Iraq and elsewhere.
It is often American men and women in uniform who fight for the freedom of others from tyrannical regimes that routinely use torture to oppress their citizens. From Nazi Germany to Bosnia, and Afghanistan to Iraq, American service members have fought to remove brutal leaders who torture and massacre. It is the American people and their contributions that have helped to rebuild these traumatized nations to give former victims hope.
A little over a year ago, American service members and our coalition partners freed the Iraqi people from a dictatorship that routinely tortured and executed innocent citizens because of what they believed in or what ethnic or religious group they came from. In torture chambers, innocent Iraqis were brutalized and the bodies of the dead left in mass graves. Throughout the past year, Americans have assisted the Iraqi people in establishing institutions to ensure accountability so that such acts do not occur again and to help victims recover.
Despite international efforts to protect human rights around the world, repressive regimes continue to victimize people through torture. The victims often feel forgotten, but we will not forget them. America supports accountability and treatment centers for torture victims. We contribute to the U.N. Fund for the Victims of Torture and support the work of non-governmental organizations to end torture and assist the victims. We also provide protection, counseling, and where necessary and possible, relocation in the United States. I -- I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him. I know he is on the run. I was concerned about him, when he had taken over a country. I was concerned about the fact that he was basically running Afghanistan and calling the shots for the Taliban.
But once we set out the policy and started executing the plan, he became -- we shoved him out more and more on the margins. He has no place to train his al Qaeda killers anymore. And if we -- excuse me for a minute -- and if we find a training camp, we'll take care of it. Either we will or our friends will. That's one of the things -- part of the new phase that's becoming apparent to the American people is that we're working closely with other governments to deny sanctuary, or training, or a place to hide, or a place to raise money.
And we've got more work to do. See, that's the thing the American people have got to understand, that we've only been at this six months. This is going to be a long struggle. When I was a younger, I would wake up every Saturday morning to my mom playing Elvis ALBUMS on her stereo. I would think, 'if I hear one more Elvis song, I am going to die.' Now, I would give anything for those Saturday mornings.
My mother was a dancer and she really wanted to be Ann Margaret. She and I would dance out the scene in Viva Las Vegas where Ann and Elvis did the "My Baby Loves Me" thing. Okay, that is kinda silly, but loads of fun.
The anniversary of my mother's death is tomorrow. She died of Brain Cancer. It hit her so suddenly, and she was gone 3 months later after aggressive treatments. She is why I fight against the spin machine for Stem Cell research. She is why I am so diligent. She is why I am a democrat. She is why I think outside the box. She is why I love Elvis.

Talledega Nights

I went to see Talledega Nights, the Ballad of Ricky Bobby. Aside from it's obvious humor, the politcal undertone was palpable!
I live in Tulsa where there are enough republicans to sink a battleship. I sat on the very last row, in the dead center. To my right was a man who whooped and hollered during a cameo by Dale, Jr., and had his flip-flopped feet propped up on the back of the chair behind him. I was surrounded by rednecks. I was surrounded by NASCAR fans who were too stupid to know the movie was actually making fun of them.
The political jokes were very obvious to me. The French guy was the gay 'bad guy'. . There was a mention of Halliburton, gay marriage, and even a "these colors don't run" comment. The Frenchie even mentioned that America gave the world "George Bush". The only thing that was missing was Toby Keith.
What was very obvious was the LACK of NASCAR stars in this movie. Where were the cameos? There was enough product endorsement laced throughout this movie to have Will Ferrill swimming in Wonderbread, Dominoes and Taco Bell for years to come, not to mention a honest to God Applebee's commercial in the middle of the flippin' movie!!!
In the beginning of the movie the announcers for the races were the actual Fox Sports NASCAR announcers.....then they went AWOL and NBC Sports announcers finished the movie. I wonder if during production, they realized they were participating in a movie that might offend some of their watchers, that is...
If they were smart enough to get it.
As for the movie itself, it had some slow parts, but it made up for it with laughable metaphors that would make any Democrat proud.

The Bush administration has drafted amendments to the War Crimes Act that would retroactively protect policymakers from possible criminal charges for authorizing humiliating and degrading treatment of detainees, according to lawyers who have seen the proposal.
The White House, without elaboration, said in a statement that the bill "will apply to any conduct by any U.S. personnel, whether committed before or after the law is enacted"...
Two attorneys said the draft was in the revision stage but the administration seemed intent on pushing forward its major points in Congress after Labor Day. The two attorneys spoke on condition of anonymity because their sources did not authorize them to release the information.
The move is the administration's latest effort to deal with treatment of those taken into custody in the war on terrorism. At issue are interrogations carried out by the CIA, and the degree to which harsh tactics such as water-boarding were authorized by administration officials.
A separate law, the Uniform Code of Military Justice, applies to the military. The Washington Post first reported on the War Crimes Act amendments Wednesday. One section of the draft would outlaw torture and inhuman or cruel treatment, but it does not contain prohibitions from Article 3 of the Geneva Convention against "outrages upon personal dignity, in particular humiliating and degrading treatment." A copy of the section of the draft was obtained by the Associated Press.
"I think what this bill can do is in effect immunize past crimes. That's why it's so dangerous," said a third attorney, Eugene Fidell, president of the National Institute of Military Justice. Fidell said the initiative was "not just protection of political appointees but also CIA personnel who led interrogations." Interrogation practices "follow from policies that were formed at the highest levels of the administration," said a fourth attorney, Scott Horton. "The administration is trying to insulate policymakers under the War Crimes Act."

Global Warming is a Hoax

Today it was 102 in Tulsa. I had just gotten in from a dip in the pool, changed into some dry clothes, sat on my couch with a nice cold drink with the A/C running at about 74.
I was watching Channel 6 in Tulsa (www.kotv.com) when they ran this CNN story titled "Hilarious Heat Wave". How offensive I thought that was to all these people who are actually suffering from the effects of this crazy heat.
People are dying. There is nothing funny about this heat.
I phoned the station to express my disgust and the man on the other end, who called himself the Assignments Manager, said that he didn't think there was anything wrong with it. I mentioned the people who are really suffering would probably disagree with him. I mentioned the 'Cooling Stations' around town shutting down. He said his tax dollar should not go to help the homeless. I had a hint he was a Republican after that comment. I then said, "I guess you don't believe in Global Warming either." After he laughed and said "no", he said that the Meteorologist at Channel 6 doesn't believe in Global Warming either.
I was shocked at that.
He went on to say that there is "no credible evidence global warming exisits" It was then I knew he was reading from the Republican Talking Points.
I mentioned that there WAS credible evidence supporting the existance of global warming and that professors at the University of Oklahoma, one of the nations top Meteorology schools agreed with me. He assured me they did not.
Well, David Karoly, a Meteorologist Professor at the University of Oklahoma, spoke resently about Global Warming.
"Karoly said the signs of global warming are not just noticeable to scientists who study its effects as he does. He said global warming causes blooming season to start earlier and birds to nest earlier in the year.“Flowers bloom earlier, snow melts earlier,” Karoly said. “There are many impacts showing around the world.”From his research, Karoly said humans’ impact on the environment has caused larger amounts of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide, to be released into the atmosphere.“Greenhouse gases act like a blanket and reflect the sun’s heat back at the surface,” Karoly said."
I have contacted the station's general manager and some of the meteorologists via email and I will get back to you with their responses.

What the clueless twit is "unawares" of, is that the "abortion pill" is available by prescription. There have been pharmacists, while standing on their moral highground, refuse to fill those prescriptions. This argument on the Hill is about Plan B going over the counter.
Mrs. Hasseltard is for the death penalty but says that "life begins at penetration". First off, that "life begins at penetration" thing is biologically and scientifically incorrect. Secondly, I can't believe she said that outloud.
Death penalty...yes. Abortion...NO! Spoken like a true redneck..."Throw 'em back, kill 'em when they're bigger."
Should the Plan B pill be available over the counter? You can't even get Sudafed over the counter! As of September 30, you have sign a log book and state your purpose for buying Sudafed. (Thanks to crazy ass meth users who probably failed chemistry in high school, but learned how to extrapolate the necessary ingredient for making crystal meth out of Sudafed!)
I am going to side a little bit here with Hasselskank. I don't think Plan B should be available to any 15 year old who walks into Walgreens with that freshly screwed look. I agree a prescription from a doctor is probably the best route.
But "emergency" contraception by sheer definition doesn't give you the time...it is an EMERGENCY. In those cases, the medication should be available OTC with proper counseling and documentation.
I am going to have to let my liberal show and say that I don't want the government or some James Dobson-ised Pharmacist to dictate to me my reproductive choices.

The squabble over the "Morning After Pill" at the FDA has me wondering just how insensitive and out of touch Republicans are. How unconstitutional can they be?
Senator Tom Coburn, who thinks the pill should only be available by prescription (duh, it already is you moron), also thinks that it will be used recreationally. Isn't Viagra technically a "recreational" drug?
So, does Coburn condone those handfull of pharmacists that have REFUSED to fill the Rx based on their morals? Are these the same pharmacists that don't mind dispensing Viagra to sex offenders? Or to men who are using Viagra with their mistresses instead of diddling their wives?
Is getting a prescription filled at your local Walgreens going to include a "morality test"? Who is the Pharmacist behind the counter to judge my soul by choosing not to honor my prescription for Plan B?
It isn't just the Vice President of the United States, or the President, or the Attorney General, or the Senate, or the House that are Pirating our constitutional rights....it is these holier than thou Republicans that say you aren't a Christian if you voted for Kerry. It is the Pharmacists that won't fill your prescription based on THEIR morals. When did it become okay to push your religion, your morality or your values on the American Public at large?

Tony Snow said today that the President thinks "murder is wrong". How can you murder something that isn't exactly alive?
Webster defines "Life" as:
The property or quality that distinguishes living organisms from dead organisms and inanimate matter, manifested in functions such as metabolism, growth, reproduction, and response to stimuli or adaptation to the environment originating from within the organism.
Frozen embryos are inanimate. They do not respond to stimuli, adapt, grow or reproduce. They aren't alive.
Does the President, as Snow Job indicates, think that the destruction of frozen embryos at fertility clinics is murder? Should fertility doctors be prosecuted for destruction of these frozen embryos? Are the parents of these frozen embryos subject to criminal charges when they choose not to implant all their frozen embryos?

Republicans should embrace stem cell reseach. Maybe a scientist will find identify a gene that can cure Stupidity.
A veto of this bill is a slap in the face of every person suffering from Cancer, Alzheimers, Parkinson's, Paralysis, and other dibilitating diseases.

When I heard that Ken Lay was going to be cremated I felt all warm and fuzzy on the inside. I felt all warm and fuzzy cause I pictured him on a beach in Mexico or Tahiti just kicking back with a couple of MaiTais and some tanned senioritas.
Do all dogs go to Heaven? If you believe in the Christian theory that if you ask Jesus into your heart, then you are saved and you get the Golden Ticket into the Chocolate Factory. If you are one of those rich dogs that can fake your own death and get cremated to hide the evidence, then you go to a foreign country with a "no extradition" policy and live your years with your tosies in the sand.

Mr. Lay (may he RIP...or whatever) was a devout Christian...you know, the same way Tom DeLay is a devout Christian. My favorite pulpit lunatic, Pat Robertson, does not condone cremation, nor do 'serious' evangelical Christians. I just find it hard to believe that his 'last wishes' were to be cremated. Just wondering if he had a burial policy or a plot that he had previously bought which would indicate he wanted to be buried.
Let me tell you a little story. About 5 years ago, my father-in-law passed away. We weren't allowed at the funeral by my husband's stepmother, and he was cremated. My husband and his father had a very non-existant relationship due to this stepmother. About 6 months after my father-in-law 'died', I began getting phone calls from credit card companies. Lots of credit card companies. Seems like f-i-l, stole my husband's credit and had been using it for the past almost 18 years. But when he died, so did the prompt payments. So, like any credit card company would do, they searched the SS# and found my husband. After we put two and two together, we were devastaed. Then, we found out that f-i-l, was in trouble with just more than a few credit card companies, he was the CFO of the Rite-Aid Corporation during the time they were perpetrating the largest corporate "cook the books" fraud in US history at that time. (This was pre-Enron, but just by a couple of months)
So, his dad ripped him off, was about to be seriously indicted for corporate fraud, died and got cremated without anyone seeing a body.....
I'm not saying that Doug (father in law) faked his death, nor am I saying Mr. Lay did...
I'm just saying......

I watched the trailer and nearly cried and got excited to see this film. Maybe a good idea would be for a huge screen to be erected on the mall in Washington and the film be played over and over again.

I DID watch the White House Correspondent's Association Dinner live on Saturday. It was drop dead hilarious. I was so excited for today's political commentators to take this on. I never realized the polarity that would insue over Stephen Colbert. Of course, I hate George Bush, so I loved it. Faux News reported it "bombed", "went over the line". Well, I don't think that the telling the truth in comedic or parody form is going over any line.
Wanna know what I thought was going over the line? Remember last year when Laura Bush, our librarian matron First Lady made light of her stupid ass husband George jerking off a horse? I thought that was pretty revolting. Remember that one? Or how about George W. Bush "looking" for WMDs under the couches at the White House while saying "nope, not under there". I thought that was downright offensive.
So, let's get this straight. When George makes fun of himself with a retarded sounding look-alike, that is funny.
But when Stephen Colbert brings a comedic relief to the Decider's decisions, poll numbers, illegal activities (NSA wiretapping, Valerie Plame) the Faux shit will hit the fan.

My x-hubby is a PharmD and the director of a hospital pharmacy. He has had to bust hospital and pharmacy employees for stealing medications from the pharmacy and from the patient. There is video, computer data and sometimes outright confessions as evidence. One in particular stole numerous pain killers, narcotics, etc. With the intent to distribute. They ALL cut deals with the prosecutor. NONE of these offenders are in jail.
So, Rush, that dog won't hunt.
They had plenty of evidence, cause if his fat, narcisitic, right-winged nut job, ass was innocent, he would have fought those charges to the limit....
But, Rush has been on the Bullshit prescription for years now...and he distributes his bullshit everyday to other right-winged dumbasses. That is the real crime here....that this jerk off has been on the airwaves for so long spewing filth for the masses to absorb.
