Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, was indicted today on charges related to the investigation into the unmasking of a CIA operative. Libby was indicted on one count of obstruction of justice, two counts of perjury and two counts of making false statements, court documents show. Libby -- a major player in the Bush White House -- resigned soon after the indictment was announced.

So what's next? even if he gets convicted, so what? the administration isn't going to fall apart, Hillary's still not going to be elected in '08, Iraqis will keep rebuilding their country with our help, and Libby will probably make more money in book contracts than he ever could have as Cheney's staffer.
And an indictment does NOT necessarily equate to a conviction either, it might lead to one, but it's NOT money in the bank and a lot of folks are doing a victory dance like Libby is doing *Hard Time* already...
Indictment, big deal...
But again I say, IF he's guilty, and it can be proven, BURN HIS ASS...
Fitzgerald isn't done with Rove just yet. His butt is still in a sling waiting to get pulled thru the wringer. Cheney is still walking on thin ice, too.
Depending upon what Scooter says now, we may see others being brought into this...Cheney and his new aide, Andrew Card, and even Bush, just to name a few.
I feel that we all need to wait and let Fitz continue with his job before any of us jump to any conclusions.
Eww.. I don't want HIllary elected! Mike M., bushco's tanking. They were already at 39% BEFORE Katrina and the Harriet Myers and Libby fiascos. And, if Libby goes to trial (as bubba shrub claims he should), alllll sorts of bad things about this adminsitration will be unearthed. No, they can't afford to let this go to trial. They are going to throw Libby to the wolves. And the investigation isn't done. And Fitzgerald is uncorruptable. You lose, rightwingers. That's what happens when you break the law. YOU GET CAUGHT - hopefully!
Texas Fred, and indictment nearly always spells the end of a career, sorry to say. Not that I'd want Libby found guilty if he isn't. However, Fitz is famous for being thorough. As experienced as he is, I seriously doubt he would indict anyone unless he's certain he'll win.
An indictment means that the DA had a good enough *hard sell* to convince a Grand Jury, that's all... In the legal world, in most instances, a grand jury will go along with a passionate plea from the DA, knowing full well that they will not be the ones hearing the actual case... And THOSE are the jurors that count...
End a career?? Yeah, might have done that but again, indictment DOES NOT equate to conviction...
